Tosen unsheathes, Suzumushi, his sword, and activates his Shikai ability.

"Cry, Suzumushi."

The world turns black and white as Suzumushi emits a piercing high-pitched tone over a wide area, immediately overloading the hearing of anyone who hears it and painlessly knocking them unconscious. This comparatively humane and painless technique fits with Tōsen's self-presentation as a proponent of justice.
