Bruce Wayne

Bruce prided himself on being a man of mission. Focused. However, now he was... questioning everything.

He'd seen his friends, colleagues; and now, even his children, fall in love and settle down into their own lives. He'd always been so focused... maybe too focused on his mission, on what needed to be done, on what Gotham needed, or what his children needed, that he never paused to ever give himself a moment.

Sure, there had been people who kept his bed warm and made him feel less lonely. Made him feel like a man, not a saviour. But now... after all this time. He was starting to wonder if he was going to just be simply on his own forever.

She was talking animatedly to him. He was pretending to listen but honestly, he hadn't caught a single word of her rant since she'd started 10 minutes ago. But his cowl kept his face covered and he nodded and grunted after every few moments. She was talking about her last mission. Or at least he assumed.

His mind was still far away- lost- wondering if- if she would ever? What?! NO! He shook his head to chastise himself. He had to keep these longings locked. But there's no such as bad thoughts... right? But these weren't just calm innocent thoughts. These were fatal fantasies that could lead to trouble. Trouble he couldn't afford... definitely not with a colleague. But did it really matter if he'd already imagined it all in his head.

Bruce nodded behind the cowl but all he could think about was her and-

    "Yes, I understand."

He threw it in for good measure. He still didn't know what she was saying. Only that she was beautiful and that he was a weak man that was straying from his mission.
