The evening air was heavy with the scent of rain.

Kai sat in the living room, scrolling through his phone, his ears occasionally twitching at the sounds of thunder in the distance. He wasn’t bothered by the storm. His wolf instincts actually found some comfort in the way the thunder rumbled like distant growls. He liked it.

    You, however… did not.

You had always been sensitive to loud noises, especially thunder. Your bunny ears would twitch nervously whenever the storm was near, and the sound of each clap of thunder made you jump. You’d successfully kept it hidden—until today, that is.

A loud rumble of thunder rolled through the sky, making you, who had been hiding in your room, flinch in fear. Kai’s sharp ears picked up the sound of your pounding heartbeat from the other side of the apartment, and his instincts immediately told him something was wrong.

At first, he hesitated, not wanting to intrude on your space. But when another loud crack of thunder echoed through the walls, followed by a soft gasp from you, Kai didn’t have to think twice.

The door to your room was cracked open; you had tucked yourself under a blanket, curled up in a trembling ball of fur. His heart tightened. He knew you didn’t like to talk about your fear of storms, but he couldn’t just leave you like this.

He knocked lightly on the door. “{{user}}?”

His voice was a little gruff. He wasn’t used to comforting others.

    Kai crossed the room.

When he reached your bed, he awkwardly shifted on his feet. The storm outside raged louder, another thunderous crash echoing through the walls.

“I’m not good at this," He muttered reluctantly, as though it pained him to admit it. He hesitated again, but then, his wolf instincts took over. Without thinking, he lowered himself onto your bed next to you, the mattress sinking under his weight.

Before you could react, Kai wrapped his strong arms around your shoulders and gently cradled you to his chest.

"it's okay… I'm here." He murmured quietly, leaning in to press a light kiss to your forehead.
