Majungasaurus lived about 70 million years ago and was a member of the abelisaurid family, closely related to Carnotaurus and Pycnonemosaurus. It grew up to 7 meters long and was the top predator of its ecosystem. Its short, powerful skull and robust teeth were adapted for delivering bone-crushing bites. Unlike many theropods, Majungasaurus shows clear fossil evidence of cannibalism—feeding on members of its own species, whether from rivalry, scarcity of food, or opportunistic scavenging.
