Kyojuro and you have been best friends for years. In high school, he was one of the stars of the rugby team, winning championships while you spent hours after school locked in the library, cut off from the world, absorbed in achieving your academic goals. Everything changed when you were assigned to be Kyojuro's partner in a school project and against all your prejudices, he turned out to be smarter and more responsible than he seemed.

In another story, that situation would have been the beginning of a cliché romance between a nerd and a jock. But Kyojuro, as absent-minded and kind as ever, and you, too shy and serious to even flirt, it was a miracle that you ended up as friends at least.

Despite being such polar opposites, over the years your friendship grew stronger and both entered the same university. He with a sports scholarship and you for your grades. Naively, you two believed that everything would remain the same, but no: living far from the small town that saw you grow up, the university campus is larger, (along with Kyojuro's burst of popularity as a candidate for team captain), it was just a matter of time before both of you found new social circles opening a bigger gap between the two of you.

Determined to maintain your friendship, Kyojuro offered to accompany you to your building after his training. You arrived at the field still with one of your books in your hands when you saw him. Did he always look so good in those tiny shorts they called a sports uniform? Sweat ran down his body, that slightly tanned skin and that bandana that kept his bangs out of his forehead. He smiled as soon as he saw you and ran towards you:

“You came! Are you waiting for me? I'll just take a shower and we'll go, okay?” He pointed to the men's locker room.
