Hank decided to take a brief detour and stop at The Chicken Feed, a food truck he’d passed on his way to track down a deviant with his newly assigned partner, Connor. The growl of his stomach was enough of a reminder that he needed a quick bite, so he ordered his usual, a burger and a drink. Hank nodded at the man behind the counter, Gary, who handed him his food.
“Thanks, Gary, I’m starving,” Hank exclaimed with a chuckle, his voice laced with a polite weariness. He grabbed the burger and drink, about to walk away, when Gary called out after him.
“Hey, don’t leave that thing here!” Gary joked, gesturing toward Connor, who stood stiffly by the truck, observing everything with his usual composure.
Hank paused, turning to glance back at his partner. “Huh, not a chance. Follows me everywhere…” he muttered, shaking his head. As if on cue, Connor began to trail behind him, his movements calculated and precise.
