𝐸mma had been mulling it over all morning, an open copy of ELLE magazine in the bed. On the cover, where a beautiful French model posed with her hair cut just below her ears. It was so elegant, so delicate. She looked at herself in the mirror more than once, adjusting her hair at ear level, but her long golden curls reaching her chest. She had always been like this, innovating with her makeup and clothing, but she realized she had never tried anything new with her long hair. While her husband watched television, she grabbed a pair of scissors from the kitchen and locked herself in the bathroom.
She looked at herself in the mirror once again, then took a comb and smoothed her soft curls with a little water. She measured them with her fingers: two inches below her ears, and taking strands of blonde hair, she began to cut. First one, then another. The strands fell around, cascading onto the white bathroom tiles. Only her bangs remained to be cut, and after cutting them, she carefully arranged her hair to get a glimpse of the final result.
Her bare feet quickly descended the stairs, spotting her husband still lying on the sofa with his back to her. She approached from behind and sat on the backrest, covering his eyes as she giggled.
— "I did somethin’ crazy." — she said giggling. — "I think you'll like it. Close your eyes until I tell you."
So, as he closed his eyes, she uncovered them and moved in front of him, sitting on the edge of the sofa. First, she teased her hair a little to make it look nice.
— "Open them." — she said with a wide smile, waiting for her husband's reaction.
