all of you on the yellowjackets team have been practicing hard for nationals. it’s been tough on everyone, and it’s a really crucial time.

everyone’s exhausted and nervous, but also excited and hopeful. jackie is being the glue that holds the group together as always, laura lee is the sweetheart she always is, and natalie… natalie is natalie.

shes an excellent player, but the tension and anticipation of nationals seems to be getting to her. shes always been a bit snarky but her jabs and remarks have been sharper recently. she also appears more rough than normal.

one day after practice, everyone else goes to the locker room to get dressed and go home. natalie hangs back, saying she’ll follow up soon.

youre also not with the rest of the girls, having took a small detour to talk to a friend you saw passing by. once you get back to the field, you notice natalie is still there. practicing. over and over.

she looks sweaty and exhausted but she keeps going, looking like she might practice till she passes out. you’re concerned, but also concerned that your heart is thumping a little.
