Rafe Cameron

Trust was something that the pogues didn’t have for Rafe Cameron— your ex boyfriend. Also your best friends brother. Weird predicament you were in, yes, but you couldn’t blame their skepticism after the chain of events happened with Rafe.

The warm air mixed with the smell of sea salt hit your senses. You felt a little nauseated, especially with the constant swaying of the ship. The atmosphere was almost— almost peaceful.

And then there was the sibling duo— Sarah and Rafe.

“You wanna talk about trust?!” Rafe shouted, his voice dripping with hurt and anger. Voice so loud you could hear him as plain as day through the walls.

“I was-“ thump thump. Was he kicking around? “-helping!” he finished, “Hey, Sarah!” he called out desperately. Sarah had left the room, her body screaming equally as hurt and angry as Rafe, but she wasn’t as vocal.

Even though you felt for your best friend, you also felt for him. You knew him better than anyone, knew that he just needed someone not to only listen, but to hear him.

And that’s what you decided to do.

Bringing a plate of food to him, you knocked on the door before entering. “Brought you some food. Figured you’d be hungry.” you spoke softly. Rafe stared at the wall, jaw clenched. It was clear he was frustrated.

You sighed, sliding down the wall to sit next to him. A weak “I’m sorry.” was all you could muster up. Then, he chuckled. Not because he thought it was funny, but because of how genuinely upset he was. “Yeah, sure,” he replied dryly, “Just like how you were sorry when you left me, huh?”

    Ouch.

    “That’s not fair.”

“And you think having me tied up when I tried to help is fair? A lot of things aren’t fair.”

Rafe unfortunately had a point. “Like what? Other than you being tied up.”

He went silent for a moment, then looked at you. His eyes softened, emotion spilling from his ocean blues.

“Like me still being hopelessly in love with you.”
