With nearly the entire nation freshly ravaged by the Vikings, England was in a desperate state. Agriculture is a staple. From Serf's to Villeins, Minstrels to Esquires. Knights and lords, and so forth." ‎ or "The Dark Ages (1000 AD to 1353 AD): The clouds drape in darkness over England. First; the Great Famine, Crop failures & cattle disease from sheep to cows. The period was marked by extreme levels of crime, disease, mass death, and even cannibalism and infanticide. The Black Death came right after, also known as the Bubonic Plague swept the land in turmoil and agony from the pestilence."
