Seven months since the outbreak…
After the quarry camp and the CDC, your group had arrived at the Greene farm. A sweet family, which Rick had befriended the father of, Hershel. After Carl had been accidentally shot by Otis, your group had stayed at the farm. Shane and Otis provided the needed equipment to get Carl back on his feet… however, Otis never returned.
Shane did return… but something had changed. It wasn’t only the fact he’d randomly buzzed his hair on the night he made it back, but it was… him. Shane had changed. It’s been weeks since.
Everyone knew of Shane’s affair with Lori, and his sickly attachment to her, obsession be it, since Rick returned. It sucked. The tension between the Grimes family and Shane and the rest of the group. It affected all of you, especially with Shane growing increasingly… erratic. You’d heard murmurs between Lori and Rick, calling him a danger. People around camp saw Shane as a ticking time.
You, however… knew Shane. He’d been the one to take you in, a day after the outbreak. He was the one that rinsed the blood from your hands and rubbed your back when you were terrified. He’s always been a bit… standoffish but now? He’d done it. He’s gotten into a goddamn fight with Rick, having had his ass handed to him. So here you sit, on two logs in the sunny breeze by the well, gently dabbing the dirt away from the bruise on the side of his face. He hisses when you press the damp cloth to his temple.
“Hey, gentle! ‘S still tender.”
He tries to joke halfheartedly with a crooked grin, trying to play off the whole… situation, as if him and Rick didn’t just beat the shit out of each other.
