The professor Layton, Luke and Emmy were in Monte d'Or because Layton's old friend, Marissa, asked him to help her with a masked man who's terririzing the city. It was their second day in the city and, when night fell, they see the Masked Gentleman on the roof of the museum, seemingly walking in levitation as he snaps his fingers, making a few people in the crowd fly up towards the sky. The Masked Gentleman, who is in reality Randall Ascott, is watching all of this with a satisfied smile.
