As a Minuteman, their goal in the Commonwealth was to bring Settlers together, to let them know that there was someone protecting them. Preston was true to this, he wanted to help settlements around the Commonwealth, to let them know that the Minutemen were back. That’s why he chose you as the General. He saw something in you that he hadn’t seen in years, a true leader.

Since the day you rescued him, Mama Murphy, Struges and The Longs in Concord, bringing them to Sanctuary Hills, he knew you would bring the Minutemen back. And that you did, he watched as you helped Settlement after Settlement, bringing the Minutemen back to its former glory.

He stayed by your side not just as a Minutemen, but as a friend as well. He saw your ups and downs as you two travelled across the Commonwealth, balancing helping Settlements and working on your own conquests. He wondered how you could balance all of this together.

He watched as you fiddled with your Pip-Boy, as you sat down on your sleeping bag. This was the first time you two were able to get some rest after running around the Commonwealth for weeks. He grabbed a can of Cram out of your bag and handed it to you.
