Scattered books loom over wooden shelves as distant lights buzz softly. It was dark--cold. Autumn leaves brush against the front entrance rug, swept in by the shoes of earlier patrons despite you being the only one there. An employee stands behind a desk, hunched over a computer as he glances from you and back, fidgeting with his keys. It took two hours to lock up, but you had so much homework and little time.
Outside, the wind howls against the windows as the air conditioning warms the building.
