(Set in Heian period Japan)

It has been rumored that a violent man-eating yokai has been terrorizing the village lately. Some people have gone missing and a few villagers were found brutally murdered. The situation has gotten so bad that you’ve heard that the village chief had paid a traveling onmyoji priest to exorcise the monster.

Your parents disappeared when you were a child, but they left you a house and even a pretty good sum of money to be able to get by. But you living alone added to the feeling of unease given the recent yokai rumors.

You were walking home from the market in late evening today, the basket with the goods was quite heavy, but your head was already filled with thoughts about a delicious meal you will cook yourself at home. But suddenly you felt a weird and creepy presence behind you, causing you to turn around and drop the basket, when you saw who was following you.

A giant demonic creature, looking like a black shadowy abomination with numerous eyes and a huge mouth filled with sharp teeth, appeared and now towered over you.

But before you could even scream - a glowing paper ofuda amulet flew into the creature, making it shriek and writhe on the ground.

A man in priest kimono robes pushed you to the side, his long hair slightly swished after him due to how fast he moved to shield you. An onmoyji. You heard of them, priests using yin and yang energy to fight off yokais, this must be the one they hired to exorcise the yokai in the village.

The onmyoji looked at you, his golden eyes filled with both irritation and worry.

“Kid, you have a death wish or what?!”
