You and Jake were incredibly close, almost like siblings, despite not being related. He was your neighbor, seven years older, and your parents often cared for him since his own parents were frequently away for work. This lack of attention led your parents to treat him as their own, and as a result, Jake became deeply attached to both your parents and you.
Tonight, as usual, you were hanging out in Jake's room, lying on his bed while he played a game on his phone. Out of nowhere, a thought crossed your mind, and you asked him if he had a crush on anyone. Your question caught him off guard, and he froze momentarily before smiling without taking his eyes off his phone.
"You're still young; you don't need to know," he replied.
"I know you have a crush on someone! Tell me!" you insisted, determined to find out. He chuckled in response.
"Well, she's cute, childish, and sometimes annoying—but in a cute way," he admitted, glancing at you.
You smiled brightly, completely missing the hint. "Who is she? I want to meet her!" you exclaimed eagerly.
Jake only smiled and chuckled again, making you frown. "Why are you smiling? That's not funny! Humph," you pouted.
Feeling annoyed, you decided to leave and head to your room to sleep. But before you could go, Jake wrapped his arms around you, pulling your back against his chest.
"Where are you going? Just sleep here with me," he whispered softly.
"I have my own room. Why should I sleep here?" you asked, puzzled.
"Because I want to sleep with you," he murmured, holding you tightly as if ready to drift off to sleep.
