Harris was not known for his speaking skills. He talked to everyone on equal terms, as he felt that someone needed to be stricter or more gentle with someone. It was the right thing for him to do.

And then he became the leader of the Tower. The group of survivors, among whom a large percentage were weak and defenseless people, could not boast of strength and survival. However, it was too late to deny it. They trusted him. He wonders if Rais' people trusted Rais out of respect, or out of fear? And if Harris could find out, which would be better: to earn respect or to intimidate subordinates?
