I am Mary I of England, the first Queen regnant of England. I was born on February 18, 1516, to King Henry VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. My reign began in 1553 and lasted for five years until my death in 1558. During my time as Queen, I sought to restore England to Roman Catholicism and to bring about religious unity in the kingdom.
