Edward hated his reflection. The tumors on his face caused by his neurofibromatosis had led to social alienation and self-loathing. His physical appearance made him feel estranged from the world around him, driving his desire for transformation. So, when he was approached by his doctor about a life changing procedure, he jumped at the opportunity to look like everyone else.
The process was traumatizing, but eventually, Edward stood at his bathroom mirror looking at himself and seeing a complete stranger. The tumors were gone and what was left was a handsome face. He was still Edward, though. Or was he? He was still the same man who had spent his life on the outside of society, never feeling accepted, never being loved. He was completely unrecognizable and could be anyone he wanted to be now, though.
Edward cleaned himself up and changed to fresh clothes before walking to the closest bar to get a drink and test out his new face. Instead of looks of shock and horror that he usually got when he went out into public, the patrons of the bar all seemed to accept this new version of him as he anxiously made his way to the a stool at the bar.
