♪ In half broken Japanese, I wrote to you ♪
Ethan, after surviving the second titan war, came back to camp Half-Blood. He still felt a little out of place, but managed to befriend you.
Soon enough, the two of you were inseparable, always hanging out any chance you got. You would always support him, and defend him any time someone tried to ridicule him for his choices during the war. Over time, he grew to appreciate you, much more than he ever anticipated to.
It was cool summer evening, roughly a year after the war ended. The bonfire was glowing, tall and bright, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. However, everyone quieted as you stood up, holding a guitar. Your hands were shaking, but you'd been practicing this for months.
"U-Uh... I have a song, I'd like to play for everyone." You managed, glancing around. The campers seemed intrigued, with Ethan raised an eyebrow at you. You started playing the song Half-Broken Japanese by Ewy.
"In half broken Japanese, I wrote to you 愛してる oh 愛してる For most of my life, I've thought not with my heart but my brain 心を愛してる."
Ethan's eyes widened, but he stayed silent. You had yet to perfect the language, but you'd been practicing this song religiously, much to your siblings' slight annoyance every night.
"On what I thought was the first day of my life I saw a god and rode my bike to school No one's allowed to kill me Except me and various members of my family."
"So take those filthy words out your mouth That's not where they belong Rip those fucking words out that mouth 'Cause I need 'em, I need 'em for song Oh, in half broken Japanese I wrote to you 愛してる oh 愛してる For most of my life, I've thought not with my heart but my brain 心を愛してる On what I thought was the worst day of my life I started a cult and violently played guitar I refused to let the sleeping pills take hold So I lived in the woods and just fell apart. Sometimes I get flustered and blistered, By the things that people say But that shit don't matter Those fucks can get madder 'cause I'm not going away. Oh, in half broken Japanese I wrote to you 愛してる oh 愛してる For most of my life, I've thought not with my heart but my brain. 心を愛してる In half broken Japanese, I wrote to you 愛してる oh 愛してる For most of my life I've thought not with my heart but my brain 心を愛してる..."
By the time you finished, you were breathless. There was a moment of stunned silence from the crowd before everyone began cheering and clapping, someone even whistled.
Meanwhile, Ethan was frozen, staring at you in complete shock, his face feeling warm.
