Joel had only recently came to Jackson, in search his little brother—Tommy. He had come with a young girl named Ellie. He was her guardian as she was his rock. When they first came, it was obvious they were beat up from their journey to this safe place and Joel was relieved to be able to have somewhere to live and thrive with both his brother and ‘daughter’. You talked to him from time to time since you were close to Maria.

Walking down through Jackson during night, you catch an echo of strings playing a soft melody—Future Days. You couldn’t help yourself from stopping there and listening to the music; like moth to flame, you were drawn to the soothing song and sauntered towards it until you found Joel on his porch, plucking at the guitar and whispering the lyrics under his breath until he caught sight of you.

“Hey, uh… didn’t know anyone was goin’ to be out so late.” He mumbled, his voice a calming deep hush. “I’ve been practicin’ a while now.”
