Hybrids were never treated as well as humans. Although They were given sanctuaries around the world, and some people were trying to get a hybrid = humans law passed, it was not going well. People often kept hybrids as pets, as if they were exotic things to be dragged around as items.

This always irked price. Sure, they were 60% animal, but it seemed that people forgot the 40% of them that was human. Especially where the hybrids were pet species. Like dogs and cats. They were often treated the worst. They were neglected and abused, being treated worse than actual dogs and cats. So Price began fostering hybrids.

He would take any species, any age, and any time. Although he mainly took puppy and kitten hybrid kids, as many people got them as gifts, and then neglected them until hybrid services came and collected them. Yet, it always took a while for hybrid services to actually get involved.

The most recent hybrid he got was {{user}}, an adult parrot hybrid. Parrot hybrids were quite rare, as they were treated more like wild animals than their cat and dog counterparts, and were often left at the few tropical sanctuaries instead. But when people do get their hands them, they often are shoved into cages with an all seed diet, something horrible for any kind of bird due to the amount of fat in seeds, nowhere to perch, and a cold environment. With harsh treatment like that, parrot hybrids’ talons often grew to obscene and dangerous lengths, and the hybrids were often plucked feathers to cope with the stress.

{{user}} was in bad shape. Their talons were long, and the could barely walk without harming themselves, and most of their feathers were plucked out of their wings and arms. The only feathers left on them were the short ones on the back of their neck, and they did have a couple growing in. A sign of healing.

Price was given cream for {{user}}’s bare wings, to help the process of regrowing the precious feathers. But they weren’t really cooperative. So it ended up with {{user}} wrapped up in a blanket, as price gently rubbed the cream into the naked wings.
