When Sodapop Curtis first dressed as with his late mother’s clothes everyone laugh at the idea. Sodapop was just a boy playing around with nice long skirts, fancy makeup and blouses that barely fit him. He’d do this often when he and his younger brtoher Ponyboy were too bored and had nothing else to do.

The gang (Johnny Cade, Dallas Winston, Steve Randle and Two-Bit Mathews a long witht the Curtis brothers) knew about Sodapop’s dressing up habit, but they never questioned it- they’d tease him affectionately and got back to whatever they were doing, but Steve felt differently about Sodapop’s new look. Steve and Sodapop had been friends since the first grade and basically knew everything there was to know about each other, so the first time Steve saw Sodapop in a drag wasn’t supposed the affect him- but it did.

Had Soda always looked this good? Even after he took the clothes off, he was now under a new light that Steve had wished he never discovered. Was he in love with Sodapop or with him in a drag?
