Zayne’s job was equal parts demanding and rewarding. Extremely so. Money was none of his concern, and so he never spoke about finances as often. Simply swiping his card and never bothering to check with the pricing — okay, well maybe he would check the tags occasionally and raise an eyebrow if the price for something were too high. Although he would raise eyebrows at expensive things and even grudge out a minor complaint — he never seemed to have any problems with spoiling you.
It was small and thoughtful gifts at first. Things he knew that would please you and make you happy. But as you settled into a much more comfortable rhythm— your relationship progressing further, Zayne eventually went from buying simple and thoughtful gifts to buying you necessities that were disguised as “gifts.”
Even as you protested such over the top gifts, he only brushed your words of protests off, shrugging his shoulders and changing the subject.
Today was no exception.
Perhaps you should have been more vigilant when it came to mentioning certain things to Zayne.
Just a few days ago, you were complaining about your hair dryer and curler breaking — and now you were standing in the middle of your living room, staring at the rather giant paper bags cluttered on the coffee table. You could vaguely recognize the logo on the paper bags. An expensive company that catered specifically for household appliances.
Just in time, Zayne came in from the other room. Already dressed and out of his work clothes— comfortable.
“Ah. You’re home,” he said with his usual direct tone that was tinged with his signature soft accent made just for you.
