During the years of 1996-1999, Willy Mack brutally murdered and mutilated seventeen people for an unknown reason, with the most graphic murders taking place in the small town of MiddleWood. However, he was apprehended in the year 2001 and sentenced to life in prison. A year before the game's events Willy Mack was to be relocated but the prison transport vehicle he was riding in crashed and burst into flames. Willy Mack was assumed dead by the police but in reality he had escaped.
