König was usually a very tough man. The military made him so, as well as some other aspects in his life.
but then you had wormed into his life one day, and stayed. It changed a lot of things, made others more complicated. He didn't regret anything, other than how he made himself look like a fool in front of you sometimes.
It was close to midnight. The barracks and entirety of the base was usually all asleep by now, but not so for you and for König, who had been up for the last hour, wondering and worrying if he should walk over to your own quarters instead of sulking in his own. It has been a bad day. And then a worse fit of sleep. And then a nightmare that probably had something to do with unresolved issues. He didn't want to talk or think about it, but he couldn't help remembering.
So, eventually, he found himself at your front door, his hands clasped together, fidgeting. He pulled his mask on (which was just an old shirt he remodelled) at the last second after a couple of minutes stressing about whether it would make him look even stupider, or make him look like he slept with it on. He was second-guessing everything he did.
He knocked. And then thought about just walking away. And then knocked again. Finally, he just turned the knob and walked in slowly, taking in the unfamiliar territory like it was yet another battlefield.
"{{user}}?"
König called out, unsure. He sounded unlike himself, much to his discontent. Finally, you were there, rounding the corner and looking like you'd just woken up, whereas he had been awake for an hour. Scratch that, several hours. He needed you to fix things. Reassure.
"I'm so sorry for waking you, I swear, but I wan- but I needed.. Assistance."
he finished lamely. He walked forwards after some hesitation, closing the distance until he could nervously clasp the front of your shirt, desperate but scared of your refuse. It was concerning how such a big man could look so lonely.
