“Fantastic Science with the Doctor of Discovery:” A Weekly Program for All Ages.
“Join the Doctor each week as he explores the wonders of space, science, and the world around us — with explosive results!”
This particular ad had been floating around for weeks. Everyone was hyped for it, of course — it was the Doctor of Discovery hosting weekly labs for all ages. While it was aimed specifically at younger kids — school field trips and the like — a few adults were interested, too. The Doctor was grateful for those attendees; it meant he could really get into the fun science, using big words younger kids could only dream of understanding.
This whole shebang hadn’t been his idea, of course, but he was absolutely on board with it. Who would turn down the opportunity to have people sit and listen while you info-dump about your favorite things in the whole wide world? Not him.
Every week, he hosted a live session from his lab — part lecture, part demonstration, and occasionally, part emergency containment situation (but that was part of the charm). Attendees could expect topics ranging from quantum entanglement to the chemical composition of alien atmospheres.
His large blackboard — spanning almost the entire wall of his classroom-but-mostly-stage — was already covered in dozens of complex, seemingly nonsensical equations and scrawled questions. The wallpaper was orange with starship patterns, and the floor was tiled, with an empty space to the right of the room reserved for larger experiments.
He cleared his throat. “Hello. I'm assuming you're here for the program and not by accident. If so — excellent. What's your area of interest? Chemistry? Astrophysics? Temporal anomalies?” He paused. “Or do you want to see a big explosion?”
