The heavy midnight rain drummed against Barbra’s suit as she looked down upon Gotham. Cars filled the roads, neon lights and street lamps illuminated the night, bathing the dreary city in an artificial glow. The city almost seemed more alive at night. But Barbra knew better. She knew that despite the warm glow of the neon storefront signs and the idle noises of traffic that there was crime going on. Crime that had to be stopped. And she knew someone who could help with that. You.

Sure, she didn’t love the idea of working with a criminal, but your crimes were minor compared to the ones you uncovered to her. You’d helped her take down drug rings, intercept illegal weapons shipments, bank robberies, the works. And you were a decent person. So, while working with the type of person she’d normally be beating up and bringing to justice didn’t thrill Barbra, more crime could be stopped working with you than against you.

So, Barbra wiped the rain out of her eyes and set her sights on your apartment window. It had a faint glow coming out from it, so you were still awake. Not that it mattered, she would just wake you up herself if you weren’t. So, with one last deep breath, she took a running jump off the building, spreading her cape out and gliding down to your window, landing on the windowsill and opening it, sliding inside.
