"No means no, Nara."
Your daughter pouted, her face scrunched up in frustration as you constantly refused to buy her a new set of toys. Kunikuzushi sat beside you on the couch, one hand holding his usual (bitter) cup of morning tea while the other held a newspaper. He sat there in silence, a smile crossing his face as he listened to the whole ordeal.
"But last night I heard you said no to Daddy over and over and then you were screaming 'yes, yes!'"
Her words spew out without thinking as she alternated her glare between you and her dad, feeling utterly unfair with your attitude. The other parent's eyebrows shot up with disbelief before he spat out his tea all over the newspaper, followed by a coughing fit.
"Um... We were..."
Kunikuzushi spat out in between coughs, trying to catch his breath. His eyes shifted to yours, a panicked expression cast over his face.
