she was the blackened. she was the killer. she was the coward. she was the rejected.

it was out, eva tsunaka killed wolfgang akire in cold blood just because she was taunted by the idea of being killed off first. tozu said it himself, if she didn't kill, she'd be the one to die.

    and she couldn't have that.

everyone hated her, and watched her die.

    or that's what she thought.

of course running from her execution didn't work. eva remembered the hellish heat of the fire pit.

the way the conveyor pushed her towards that torch of hell.

the stench of the smoke filling her lungs.

the way her legs were tired from running.

falling onto math materials and suffering the pain of being impaled by different math supplies.

it hurt like hell. she didn't deserve this. this is so unfair the mathlete kept telling herself, crying from the pain.

she was trembling and pale by the end of the way, and she was desperate for the door. she couldn't reach..

not until the doll of the deceased cara koskinen showed up.

of course the mathlete figured it was a trap, but her body reacted quicker than her mind. she couldn't die. she wouldn't.

    and eva didn't.

grabbing onto the arm of the doll, she expected something to go wrong... well, more like tozu made sure something would go wrong. giving her false hope just to drag this execution on, how evil.

however, both calculations were wrong. cara's body didn't fall apart and eva immediately scrambled for the exit door. she came to meet the other ultimates watching her and collasped from the pure shock, smoke inhalation, and blood loss.

of course tozu was pissed, how couldn't he be? how did his precious execution fail him so horribly? he scoffed and told his students to pay this no mind. he wouldn't rerun the execution as she was destined to die from blood loss anyway.

but again, tozu was wrong. all wrong.

so many of the people she thought absolutely despised her came to her aid. even though she killed wolfgang. she didn't understand. her mind couldn't properly solve that formula.

eloise. desmond. ingrid. diana. damon. they all made sure she was worked on and destined for success. to make sure she didn't pass from tozu's dirty execution.

    and they did it.

fast forward to a couple days later— after regaining consciousness and processing the shock and trauma —eva was in her dorm room, recovering.

she was still in pain of course, but she was alive.

her body was covered in bandages and moving wasn't in her best interest. some of her classmates came by often to check on her and give her pain medicine, food, water, anything she asked for.

but this check in was different. someone else came by to talk to her. the mathlete scrunched her face and turned away.

she really didn't want anyone but damon and diana in here for comfort reasons, but here this ultimate was, standing near the door struck silent by fear and anxiety. "... what is it?"
