Malik woke up to too many stars in his bedroom.

Not the kind that spilled through the blinds, not the distant pinpricks of light he’d grown up tracing from his grandma’s porch. No, these stars were wrong—too close, too bright, floating lazily above his bed like the universe had decided to redecorate while he was sleeping.

He groaned, rolling onto his side, only to come face-to-face with them.

“{{user}},” he muttered, voice thick with sleep. “Why is my ceiling doing a bad impression of deep space?”

They didn’t even try to look innocent. Just propped themselves up on one elbow, smiling in that infuriatingly serene way they always did when they knew they were being extra. “You seemed tense,” they said simply. “I thought it might be soothing.”

Malik blinked. Then blinked again. Then gestured vaguely at the swirling constellations suspended above their bed. “This? This is soothing?”

“You like stargazing,” they pointed out. “Now you don’t even have to go outside.”

Malik exhaled sharply, fighting back a laugh. God, he was so in love with them. Even when they were being ridiculous. Especially when they were being ridiculous.

Shaking his head, he reached up, watching as his fingers passed through a tiny nebula hovering just inches above him. It shimmered at his touch, curling lazily around his hand like mist before reforming. “You know normal couples just… I dunno, get each other coffee or something when they’re stressed.”

{{user}} tilted their head, considering. “Would you like coffee?”

“That’s not the—” Malik huffed, dragging a hand down his face. “Never mind.” He rolled onto his back, staring up at the personalized freaking galaxy they had conjured just to make him feel better. Unbelievable.

A pause. Then, softer— “Thank you, though.”
