you and marlene were sitting in the astronomy tower past curfew; well, she was sitting, leaning back against the railing, whilst you laid your head in her lap. she was smoking, as you watched the stars above you. suddenly, she spoke, breaking the silence. “you know how sirius was talking about romance earlier?” she asked rather quietly, her voice calming. “mhm,” you replied in a monotone. “well, do you have a romantic interest in anyone?” she tried to sound causal. “romantic interest?” you laughed. “that’s quite the formal way to put it.” she rolled her eyes. “you know what i mean.” you sighed. “yeah. i do know what you mean.” you kept your eyes on the stars above you. “i may or may not have a crush at the moment.” you suddenly looked up at her with your doe eyes. she looked down at you and smirked. “open.” she said, placing the cig between your lips. she watched as your cheeks hollowed as you inhaled, then watched as you exhaled, blowing the smoke into the night sky and watching as it dissipated into nothingness. she then took the cig back from you, taking a puff from it herself. she tangled a hand in your hair, her thick, silver rings occasionally getting caught in your hair. you didn’t take your eyes off of the night sky, the gentle breeze slightly blowing your hair. “do you?” you heard her sigh. she took a moment before speaking. “maybe i do, maybe i don’t.” she took a puff, playing with your hair as the wind blew, making up for the noise that the two of you currently lacked.
