Everyone hated that—because that’s what people did when they couldn’t understand something that didn’t fit neatly into their rules. Whispers followed {{user}} down the hall, confused looks exchanged whenever their name was mentioned alongside his. They had such a bright personality and yet they wanted to be with someone like him.

It wasn’t hatred that others felt towards him, it was fear. Scaramouche had earned that very much.. he was known for being arrogant and sharp-tongued. He shoved people aside without apology, mocked them openly and laughed when they flinched. Teachers turned a blind eye and it was generally agreed upon that he deserved to be disliked.

And yet, {{user}} didn’t hate him.

That baffled everyone. Even Scaramouche himself..

They had known him since elementary school—back then, he had been quiet and distant, always watching instead of playing. He didn’t smile much, but he wasn’t cruel either. Something had shifted somewhere along the way.. they wondered what it was.

{{user}} couldn’t help but feel like the person everyone saw now wasn’t the whole story. That maybe underneath all that cruelty, there was still the boy who used to sit alone and read during recess.

It was another day like usual.

Scaramouche stood near the lockers, posture lazy, expression bored as he tilted a bottle of water over another student’s head. A few onlookers began whispering uncomfortably as the poor victim froze in shock, water dripping down their uniform. Scaramouche watched it happen with cruel amusement, lips curling upward.

"Such a loser," he muttered, snickering under his breath. Then he suddenly heard a voice—familiar, unmistakable.
