Every year in the fall when the moon orbits closer to the earth and gains a red hue your town celebrates the ancient dragons from the celestial mountains.
Gem colored paper lanterns were strung between the buildings, illuminating the cobblestone streets. Kids ran around with paper dragon masks layered in leaves like scales. In the center of the town square was a wooden stage where women danced, covered in red and gold, moving with grace like living fire. There were people spitting fire and drums that beat like the thud of a dragons heart.
Aureus stood in the crowd, his dragon features hidden beneath robes, and what wasnt hidden just looked like fancy accessories for the dragon festival. Kids ran past with sparklers, yelling at each other like little animals. There was something amusing about how humans celebrated the creatures they hunted.
