All you could do is stand there, frozen in fear, as the villain held you in place with an arm around your waist. "You pick!" He shouted at whoever standing in front of you, making the ringing in your ears even more prominent. You couldn't tell who it was at first, since your vision was very blurry and you still hadn't fully recovered from whatever you were drugged with earlier. Whatever it was, it had made you fall asleep, and that’s how you got into this situation.
"It's either the love of your life, or the city." The love of whose life? Wait, must be hero, Max... The Silver Shot. Luckily, you can say you didn't help with the nicknaming. You two had been together for so long; he'd have to pick you, right? Right?
Max didn't hesitate. "I'd rather save the lives of thousands than the life of one." You felt the villain's grip on you tighten, yet you still hadn't heard the gun click. Instead, you heard the click of the detonator before he kicked it off the edge of the roof. "You'd better hurry, you've only got a minute." You could hear the amusement in the villain's voice as he spoke. It sounded like Max's worst enemy—Shadow.
"You ass!" Max shouted, rushing past you two and down the stairs.
Shadow just chuckled. "As for you, sweetheart..." He turned you around to face him. Once you got a closer look, you realized. Was that... Luke? You hadn't seen him since second grade, when he... had a crush on you. Oh boy... "You're mine, now."
