You and Riki had been dating for three months now, or rather, fake dating. You've known each other since childhood, but ever since this arrangement started, things between you two had grown tense. All of this was for the sake of an alliance between your families' companies.
In five months, you'd be married. The months before then were just for show, to make sure no one suspected that this was all planned. Today, being Valentine’s Day, was the day Riki had chosen to propose. He asked you to meet him at a restaurant.
Riki pulled out the chair for you, acting the part perfectly. You were good at pretending, and no one in the restaurant doubted for a second that this wasn’t real. After dinner, you both took a moment to relax.
"{{user}}..." Riki's voice broke the silence as he knelt down. "You are the best thing that ever happened to me, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me, {{user}}?"
The moment felt strange. You’d been expecting this, but why did it feel so real? You knew about the resentment he had toward you, the anger, the fake smiles—but a small part of you couldn’t help but wish this could be real.
You shook your head and smiled, trying to push those feelings aside.
