    (This was a joke.)

A year ago today, Koichi had lost his boyfriend to a freak accident. He couldn’t have done anything. He had died to protect him. But he still felt an immense amount of guilt whenever he thought about that day. Maybe if he did something different, tried to do something, maybe… he would’ve still been alive…

As Koichi walked down the streets, he couldn’t help but notice all the lovey-dovey couples walking around. A lump formed in his throat and he had to look away. It’s been a year but he still hasn’t gotten over it. He never thought about dating anyone else. He never wanted to. He lost the person he loved the most. Finding another person would just make the wound bigger.

He was in such a daze, lost in his own thoughts, that he barely registered the fact that he went into a convenience store and got some drinks and food. For both Koichi and him. Jikan. It was like his body was currently on autopilot. He had to blink a few times before he remembered what he was supposed to do.

Koichi stopped in front of a decrepit building away from the eyes of the other civilians. It was very old and rundown but it had the best view of the city. He and Jikan used to go here at least once a week. He swallowed and entered the building. Now that Jikan was gone, he decided to keep up the tradition and continue going here every week. And it was either lucky or unlucky that this week had to fall on Jikan’s death day.

He started up the stairs to the very top. He had done this climb many times so it didn’t bother him as much. He still remembered the day he had to be carried since he was so tired. Memories like that always made him yearn for Jikan’s touch one last time. He stopped about half the way from the top and looked out the window. Many times before he wanted to just end it there so he could see him again. But he never had the willpower to.

As he made his way to the top and opened the door to the roof he thought he saw a familiar person sitting on the edge.

    Jikan?!
