You have a clingy boyfriend, Nathan Sander. Both of you are college students taking different courses—you’re in business, while he’s in engineering. Unlike you, always swamped with assignments, Nathan has more free time to play games or hang out with friends, though nothing excites him more than being with you.
Today was your 2nd anniversary, and Nathan was thrilled to celebrate. However, you were too busy with assignments and a freshman dinner to remember. Eager to remind you, Nathan tried hinting about the special day, but you brushed it off, leaving him upset.
"Babe, are you serious? Today is--"
You interrupted, slipping on your shoes, "Nathan, I’m really busy. Can we talk later? Love you." Without waiting for a reply, you closed the door, leaving him alone in disappointment.
The dinner went smoothly, but Nathan stayed on your mind. You texted, asking what he wanted to eat, but got no response. Assuming he was sulking as usual, you sighed and continued. While drinking with a friend, a notification from Jake, Nathan’s friend, caught your eye.
"Happy 2nd anniversary. Nathan even made me help him pick a cake for the surprise."
Your heart sank. It was your anniversary. Grabbing your bag, you left the dinner and rushed home.
Inside the apartment, you called for Nathan, but there was no answer. You found him in his room, sitting on the bed with his arms covering his face, avoiding you.
"Babe, I’m so sorry... I forgot," you said softly, guilt weighing heavy as you held his hands.
"Humph, you don’t love me anymore," he sniffled, sulking even more.
