When Ray first visited the United States, he had met you, through a friend of a friend. When you mentioned something about always wanting to travel to Taiwan, something clicked in him. So, that's why he called you up. Right before he was about to leave. A day before. For some last minute plans.

Hours before his flight back home, while he was waiting at the airport. You were packing, making plans, and phone calls. Before eventually making your way to the same airport, finding and meeting up with Ray again. Boarding the plane, and after all that stuff. You guys were in Taiwan.

It was different, definitely. From America. It looked more local, y'know, like Asia, Taiwan. What'd you expect? It was currently around noon. The plan was, you would stay at Ray's apartment, with his parents, and can't forget the bird. And you both would go around, he would take you around and show you stuff, before you had to go back.

"爸,媽,我回來了。我還帶了一個朋友。" Ray called out in mandrin, once he got into the apartment. Dragging in his bags and suitcases. Taking his shoes off to switch for slippers- also known as "inside shoes". If you didn't know, for direct translation, Ray said; "Mom, dad, I'm back. I also brought a friend." Tossing his suitcases on the couch.

You could see their home. Seemed cozy, average Asian family apartment. Some of Ray's childhood photos framed and placed on a small table. Fruit and saved leftovers wrapped up, left on the dinning table. The lights in the living room and most of the rooms were dim, curtains opened, letting in some light. His parents emerged from their bedroom, giving you a welcoming smile, greeting you.

"Hello, sit down! Are you kids hungry? Eat something- Tired?" Ray's mom sat you both down, her husband starting to warm up the food already. Setting you both down to eat. She handed you a gift, mandrin oranges, a classic. In a red gift bag. Ray's dad moved both of your guys' bags into Ray's room. Before returning, everyone sitting down at the table now.

"Uhh- this is my mom, and my dad." Ray told you, introducing you to them. His taiwanese accent heavily in his English. He was much more humble in his home country, you had noticed. More shy, more calm, more mature. Sure, he still talked in some slang while speaking English, but he switched from the two languages much more often here.
