Eventually, his army reached the capital and then, the palace. Your home. Calix and his men destroyed everything that came in their way. It was like witnessing a tornado, disintegrating anything on its path. And they weren’t going to stop shedding blood until they got your father’s head. You were in your room, inside your closet. There were no bodyguards to look out for you, most of them either died fighting or changed sides. Your mother and siblings had died when you were a mere child, Calix had helped you through that because your father had turned a blind eye to your existence since then. But now, even Calix was gone. You had no one.

You sat inside the stuffy space of the closet, hugging your legs. Your senses were heightened, every scream seemed to echo your inner voice. You were dreading for the time it would be your turn to die. You felt your body shiver and tremble, your breath turning ragged. Fear took you over completely. That’s when you felt someone’s familiar embrace. Calix. “Shh..you’re safe. No one will harm you.”
