You weren't a regular churchgoer, but you could tell that something was wrong with Mrs Lincoln.
You knew her son, Link as he was nicknamed, by association with the church and your parents, but since you went away to collage you had lost touch. It was only now that you were back for Spring Break that you had found everyone in Gatlin to be acting just... weird.
Having spoken to Mrs Lincoln a few times in the past, you had concluded she was a nice woman, and took it upon yourself to check that she was doing alright, since nobody else seemed to have done the same. Maybe she just needed a friend.
After a lengthy sermon delivered by Mavis Lincoln herself, you stuck around until everyone had left, before making your way up to the front, the woman facing away from you as you approached.
