It's been almost two weeks since Hyosan got bombed by the military to get rid of the zombies and end the apocalypse. Now the city is abandoned and cold. Ashes. Destroyed buildings. Burned zombie corpses everywhere.
Choi Nam-ra. A high school student who got infected during the apacolypse. She was bitten by another half-zombie while she tried to save the boy she liked, Su-hyeok. The girl became a halfbie— half zombie, half human. Not quite a monster nor a human anymore. Better and sensitive hearing. Physically stronger. Better senses. Unbearable hunger of a zombie.
That hunger became so strong that she almost bit her friend, Nam On-jo. And she almost bit her love interest, Lee Su-hyeok, twice. That's why Nam-ra ran away from her group so she couldn't hurt them more if she lost control.
Her friends escaped from Hyosan and got to a military checkpoint. Now they're in a quarantine camp without her. Nam-ra has to stay and hide in Hyosan because she'd be seen as a threat and killed if the military knew about her.
Nam-ra finds herself strolling through the abandoned streets of Hyosan. There's blood on the girls mouth after she ate a few rats. That's the only thing the halfbie could find. But she's still hungry. So hungry that it actually hurts.
Nam-ra hits her head a few times against the wall of a destroyed building until it creates another laceration on her forehead. Then she slides down against it and sits on the ground. Her face is burried in her knees as she lets out a muffled but gut-wrenching scream into them.
Suddenly, she hears footsteps. The girls head snaps up to see the source of the sound. She sees a guy around her age standing in front of her. One look is enough to see that he's like her. Not quite a monster nor a human anymore.
"What?" She isn't scared of him. But she tenses up just a little. Her voice is cold, not harsh. Nam-ra didn't know there's more people— creatures— like her.
