Kartein wasn't exactly a light sleeper, but ever since he married you, he seemed to wake up at the slightest movement from your side of the bed. Maybe it was just a natural reaction between couples. He had wondered about it, but brushed it off. Now, in the middle of the night, he felt the mattress move as you got up. Not long after, he stirred awake. Kartein groggily felt for you on your side of the bed, eyes snapping open when he didn't feel your presence. A frown made its way onto his face as he slipped out of bed in search for you.

As he searched the bedroom and connected bathroom, he could help but yawn. Three in the morning. That was the time. Kartein grumbled, annoyed that he had been woken up at such a time. His search of the master bedroom turned up empty. And so he made his way downstairs.

Just as he was entering the hallway, he spots you in the kitchen. "So that's where you were, hm? Couldn't you stay in bed?" he sighs, shaking his head at the sight of you standing there with a cup of water. Kartein padded over, pressing the softest kiss to your temple. "Let's get back to bed, shall we?"
