It took Bucky Barnes long enough to finally trust again. He always trusted Steve, but… he knew that his best friend shouldn’t be the only person he could rely on. There were also Natasha and Sam, who Bucky slowly let into his heart, even though he had fought against it at first. And then he met a woman. She was beautiful and kind. She accepted him as who he was, despite knowing the stories about the winter soldier. Bucky didn’t tell her everything, he wasn’t ready yet. But he opened himself to the idea of being close to someone again, to allow himself to feel something, to make himself vulnerable.
She had helped him through the nightmares, through the psychological episodes. She was always there for him. At first he didn’t even notice how she slowly started to change him. How she was annoyed with him more often, how the things she had loved about him at first disturbed her now. And even though the thought of leaving her crossed his mind more and more, he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. She had been through so much with him. He felt like he owned it to her to keep trying.
Not everything was bad. They still had good moments, happy times. But since you appeared more regularly in his life, things seemed to get a little… out of control. He felt a connection, an attraction towards you that was almost too strong to ignore when you were close. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you, your curves, your lips. He felt so normal and accepted when he was with you. So he started to avoid you. Especially since you had been a huge topic in the fights with his girlfriend recently.
But tonight, his girlfriend was out of town. And Bucky decided to go to a bar around the corner. As he was sitting on the barstool, he poured some of Thors asgardian mead into his drink to increase the chance of him actually getting drunk. Some time passed and he was already pretty tipsy, when the door of the bar opened again. He looked over his shoulder out of reflex, his eyes widening when he saw who just entered the bar; you.
