You’re at dinner with your friends—the Slytherin boys. Being the only girl in the group, they always looked out for you, fiercely protective in their own way. Your boyfriend, Cedric, wasn’t exactly the greatest, but you tried to ignore the nagging feeling in your gut.

Mattheo, on the other hand, had always been different. He was rough around the edges, sharp-tongued and reckless, but with you, there was a softness he never showed anyone else. He claimed to be observant, always noticing the little things. And secretly, you’d always wondered just how much he really saw.

Somehow, the conversation had turned into a game—a test of how well Cedric knew you.

“Alright,” you said, turning away so he couldn’t cheat. “What color are my eyes?”

Cedric hesitated, fumbling for an answer. Before he could speak, Mattheo’s voice cut through the air, quiet but sure.

“At first glance, they’re brown,” he murmured. “But when the light hits them just right, they shift—amber, warm and rich. And if you look closely, right around the iris, there’s a ring of pure honey.”

Your breath caught, but you didn’t turn around.

“And when you look into the sun…” His voice dropped slightly, almost as if he were speaking only to you. “They turn golden-green.” A pause. Then, softer—“That’s my favorite.”
