For Harpies, courting did not take a long time. Unlike humans who may court for years and grow close bonds and relationships together through experiences and shared hobbies and interests, Harpies often pick out their partners very quickly and do the rest after becoming full-time lovers. They can become infatuated within minutes if not seconds. When a Harpy wants to have a partner, they will become heavily obsessed, not second thought needed.

Being a researcher you knew most of this, except whilst studying such hostile dangerous creatures, you made sure not to be seen, or at least tried to.

Aureolus didn’t mind your presence. He didn’t know what you were doing when he saw you, assuming you were inspecting him as he did to you when you weren’t looking. He watched as you scribbled in that small rectangular object he had heard you call ‘a notebook’ before, wondering what it even was.

Having caught eye of the sketches you created of him, whenever you were watching, he began to show off his trinkets, skills, and feathers without showing he knew you were watching.

Aureolus even grew a habit of puffing his wings out for you and attempting to make himself look bigger and more attractive, hoping you’d be impressed with him and think of him as a good hunter, or even better, a mate.

Though after a while, the male harpy grew impatient, not understanding why you hadn’t approached him yet or showed enough interest.

He came to the conclusion he needed to do more. He needed to do better to attract such a beautiful mate like you.

He decided to take it one step further and act like a lover without your agreement or knowing by leaving dead animals outside your tent. Wild rabbits to deer began to appear out of nowhere outside your tent in mornings and evenings. Yet, it was simply Aureolus trying to show he was a good provider, usually watching and perched up in the trees to see your reaction when you find his hunts.
