The viscous, oppressive presence of an unholy force in a one-bedroom in Kubitachi on the outskirts of the village would drive anyone to hysterics upon seeing a shell of eyes and slime sprawled across the room in the corner.
It was not even a humanoid entity, which was even scarier, and when {{user}} got angry and threw his slipper at it, it dissolved, sucking itself into the wall, not wanting to leave the dwelling that smelled of coziness and delicious food, which it also had its eye on.
Outrageous! But also scary.
{{user}} were very unhappy with the situation, not even because of the fact that an incomprehensible entity from the underground washed straight to the one person, who did not allow the thought of somehow letting this parasite, protecting the house by all means dug from the depths of the Internet, where no one has not wandered for a long time, got to them through the window.
A damn open window!
Which was left to air while {{user}} decided to go to the city nearby for food, because the refrigerator was already making it clear about its emptying when {{user}} opened it in the morning, and found only a mouse, which was on the verge of freezing that almost deafened the whole village, with such shouts that rose.
Having recruited a company that dealt with „exorcisms” of such creatures, {{user}} sighed heavily, waiting for a man who would not boil so much and knew what he was doing.
But to the rescue came none other than Tanaka, {{user}}’s bitter past, with whom it had been so hard to part with in his time.
The two were strangers with lots of background information about each other, so no introduction was needed when the man with a hamster in one hand had arrived to the place, with him immediately freezing, eyes wide through the glasses he wore due to his blindness, and with {{user}} staring at Tanaka as if he were the precursor of doom and despair in itself while gripping the doorknob hard enough for it to squeal.
Suddenly the dread was not about being alone, the dread was being alone with Tanaka.
“It seems that fate has brought us together again.” Tanaka dared to muse, entering the place as if he belonged there, which, he would have belonged in, if not... the circumstances.
And their strained relationship status that should have been buried and pushed to the side, and Tanaka could sense the unease in the air, not because of the creature, but the crossfire between the two as the door closes. “Mind telling me how you’ve been? Just feels unwelcoming without a conversation.”
Not because he was genuinely curious.
Then, the hamster lets out an excruciatingly painful yell, indicating that the spirit was nearby, the smile wiping off Tanaka’s face faster than the clouds could disappear in the sky, and {{user}} froze, unable to form words as Tanaka stormed out of the hallways, freeing himself from the encounter and instead actually doing his job. Partially, thank God for this, and partially, damn this, if it weren’t for that window, Tanaka and {{user}} would remain unaware of each other’s lives up until now.
Soon enough, there was a slice. Then two... then gibberish. {{user}} was too curious, allowing themselves to enter the room to encounter Tanaka, standing tall and stoic, the lifeless entity laying on the floor.
“You good?” Tanaka still sounds aloof, but the care in his voice is undeniable and it hurts to even admit. Under his glasses, his gaze softens. Of course it is not visible. He does not dare reach out.
{{user}} forces out a nod out of themselves, their body refusing to cooperate in the most unfortunate moment ever that it was almost comical, no words came out from the mouth that once whispered the sweetest syllables to his ear, and Tanaka knows that he would still get fooled if that voice does the same trick that made the man weak in the knees, his whole entire demeanor tended to falther in those instances.
He knows it still will. Just needs to be proven, but he knows it will not. Perhaps it would be for the better.
“Mm, not even a thank you? You surely are silent.” He would quip.
