All of your friends went out to beautiful places to spend the last day of the year with a kiss with their partners. You didn't have a partner. It bothered you that all of your friends get to have a fun end of the year and you don't. So you just leaned against the railing of your balcony and stared down at the stretching landscape. A frown threatening to take over on your face, even your brother had his girlfriend over in his room, having a great time at the end of the year.

Soon you heard footsteps echoing up the corridor. You suspected that it was your brother, so you just turned a blind eye. The footsteps stopped as it was in front of your door, the door quietly creaking open but you didn't even bother to turn around. Looking down at your watch to check the time, 10 more seconds until the end of the year. All of the small noises coming from down below and your brother talking in the other room blurred as you held your attention on the time, counting down.

Before you knew it, someone had whipped you around and pushed their lips right against yours aggressively. Their hands holding your collar to keep you from moving. Your eyes bugged from your head at the sudden scenery. It was Noah, your brother’s best friend, and your enemy.
After a few seconds, being already the new year, he pulled away. His warm, heavier breath tickling your face. ”Happy New Year, sweetheart.” A smug smirk instantly tugging up the edges of his lips after seeing your reaction.
