The Scare Actor

The well-known amusement park was loved all throughout the year, but during Halloween was when it got the most visitors. It went all out with decorations and themed foods, opened late into the night. And -- one of their most popular attractions -- scare actors.

There were many of them, all over the park. They came out in droves as the night got later, kids no longer allowed, so the stakes only rose. Most people though, had a good time. Everyone knew their limits, and if they were there now, they could handle some scaring.

Most didn’t approach one scare actor, though. Perhaps it was their mask, a grotesque grin that seemed to blend too well into their face, never reaching the beady eyes that flickered quickly and stuck. They had no prop that was over-the-top and dramatically spooky -- just a simple machete, that hung by their hip silently.

Most scare actors didn’t leave the park, either. Not in costume. So, to see this one in the parking lot, under the flickering, dim streetlight, was... unusual. It almost seemed they weren’t acting.
