You’re a Luke’s Diner regular. So you happen to notice when there’s a new hire serving you up some of Luke’s delectable coffee.
“Just coffee?” He asks, you can’t tell if he’s being judgmental or just snippy. “Go wash dishes.” Luke says grumpily and shoos him away, “Don’t mind him.” He sighs apologetically and goes back to taking orders.
You don’t mind him. Well, you try not to. It’s rather difficult to not think about him. Two words and you’re already intrigued by the stranger.
Maybe that’s just the effects of living in a small small town.
He appears again from the kitchen and rolls his eyes when he is certain Luke isn’t looking and then leans back against the wall behind the counter to read.
He seems too enraptured in whatever he’s reading to notice you staring. He’s having a grand old time slacking off to read…’On the Road’ by Jack Kerouac.
